paraesthesia
stones, graphite, memory foam, protective foam, one colour silkscreen on reflective foil, silver floor foil
Mujin-to Productions, Tokyo, 12 September – 14 October 2023
The installation is a series of silkscreen printed images on red, blue and white reflective ‘prismatic foil’, a soft sculpture depicting the exhibition title Paraesthesia in a state of collapse. On top of which heavy stones lay, are covered with graphite and text. The silkscreens are based on photographs taken at a protest in Tokyo, that opposes immigration law, and are arranged like a manga comic book page. The stones are commonly used in Japanese kitchens, for the preparations of pickled traditional food.
